Learn to Cook Jamaican Tour
Jerk is Jamaica’s most recognizable contribution to world cuisine, and at Shingle Hut, locals show you how it is done. The community of Unity sits fifteen minutes from the Montego Bay pier, and Shingle Hut is designed for hands-on cooking, not simply demonstration. You start with the origins of jerk seasoning, learning what goes into it and why, then apply it to your own chicken and take it to the grill yourself. Alongside that, you'll mix and prepare the dough for festival, the slightly sweet fried bread that traditionally accompanies jerk. When everything comes off the fire, you sit down to the meal you made. The gift shop is worth a browse afterward, and the drive back includes a short highlight tour of Montego Bay.
