Yunque Rainforest
Get ready to look up, look around, and take it all in at El Yunque, the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System. Your visit starts at the El Portal Visitor Center, where your guide lays out the ecosystem and history that make everything afterward read differently. From there you reach La Coca Falls, dropping straight down the rock face beside the road. Climb Yokahu Tower next, where the view opens onto canopy running in every direction toward the coast. Your last stretch belongs to the river, with time to sit by the water and feel how completely the forest has replaced the coastline you left behind. Puerto Rico has no shortage of beaches. It has exactly one rainforest, and this is how you see it.
